Acquire Information Combined With Analytics, A.I. And Authorisation Capabilities
23 Jul, 2020We explored a little deeper into an innovation opportunity shared by 3 maritime corporates today (23 July). We were joined by Dr Piyush Raj, Director of Product Development at Alpha Ori; as well as Yusry Bin Zainol and Stephanie Cai who leads Digital and Corporate Safety at PSA Marine.
Each of these corporates are looking to solve their unique challenges using capabilities such as visual analytics and AI.
For Alpha Ori, the challenges they have is the ability to detect and assess corrosion on vessels. Current methods rely on human judgement which may not provide a standard assessment on the extent or potential impact of the damage. There are also hard to reach areas within the vessel that add to the challenge. Alpha Ori is looking for a solution that can analyse data in the form of images/videos in order to offer a consistent and accurate assessment and recommendation.
PSA Marine’s challenge is related to detecting and monitoring unauthorised personnel both on land, as well as at sea. Although CCTV is installed on land and on all their craft, it requires humans to monitor the footage in order to identify unauthorised personnel. Reception and coverage is also an issue when the vessels are out at sea. What they are seeking is a solution that can provide in real-time, detection of unauthorised personnel and their exact location.
Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) was unable to join us to share their challenges related to detection and verification of integrity of ship hulls but we will be collating your questions and getting them answered in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session so look out for that on our social media channels. Click here to submit your questions for EPS by 28 July.
Join us next Thursday, 30 July, at 4:30pm (SGT) for our final roadshow with Ecolabs to look at Maritime Decarbonisation. Register here.
Lastly, don’t forget to submit the Smart Port Challenge 2020 proposal template (download here!) and your company’s pitching deck by 10 August 2020 here!
