GT Green Technologies is developing a novel wind propulsion system AirWing for commercial shipping to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 10%-30% dependent on the route and type of vessel.

AirWing wind propulsion systems incorporate a novel AirFlow technology which maximises the thrust produced from a small compact unit. This critically means that when the device is stowed down to the deck for vessel port operations it has minimal effect on the operation of the vessel and a much smaller deck footprint compared to competitor devices.

This makes the technology exceptionally good for retrofit applications and for cluttered deck layouts which makes up a significant portion of the global fleet. Ideal for tankers and bulk carriers but we are also doing studies for container ship owners due to the compact nature of our technology.
