Our GILLS Technology is an invention that creates low energy micro bubbles utilizing the KHI ( Kelvin Helmholtz Instability) phenomenon via a wing and using the ships speed as a prime mover.
Research and installations on real ships have demonstrated the reduction of hull resistance of around 10%. That results in lower power requirement, lower emissions or alternatively in higher speeds and longer range.
The unique and patented design of our GILLS technology allows the generation of micro air bubbles with a minimum use of air compressor power. Furthermore, the GILLS units can be installed at the bottom of the vessel as well as the side walls which increases the efficiency substantially. It has also been observed that Air Bubbles reduce biofouling. This phenomenon requires further research. GILLS Pte Ltd is a member of the Singapore National Biofilm Consortium.
The GILLS technology can be applied on large ocean-going vessels and also on smaller craft such as pilot boats, passenger ferries and fast crew boats. For the smaller boats the special design of GILLS allows an installation without compressors at all for easy operation and maintenance.
GILLS Pte Ltd is established in Singapore since 2019 with the target to expand and substantially grow the business from here. The growth potential is very significant with the huge number of ships in the market needing new technologies to fulfil the ever-increasing emission requirements.
